On January 27,
1991, Mary Ann Carpenter and her husband Prince M. Edmonds, founded
MAC's Children & Family Services as a 501©-(3) non-profit
organization.
Collectively, they have six children and Eleven
grandchildren. Prompted by his wife, Mr. Edmonds enters the
field with many years of business administration: Mrs. Carpenter
also enters the field with many years of business administration and
many years of nursing.
They started out with a small foster family home and over the
years, through the collaborative efforts of a strong clinical
support team, they have built an Agency aimed at providing quality
care, supervision and life skills education for children from all
walks of life.
Mrs. Carpenter has always helped young people by voluntarily
mentoring school, family and neighborhood children. She gave
up her nursing career when her sister passed on at which time she
became foster parent to two of her nieces. This is what really
ignited the passion within Mrs. Carpenter and is still what keeps
her committed to providing safe, loving and nurturing homes and
services for as many children as possible.
After five years of research planning and preparation, they
opened up their first group home.
